Description:
The month of March saw records for the coldest and wettest March in 6 years with the temperatures at least half a degree lower in Celsius at around 17.5 - 18 degrees Celsius.
The rainfall was approximately 20% higher than the average for the month with 26 million cubic meters of water flowing into the islands dams, which was the second highest level in the last twenty years.
This means that the water reserves in our dams now stands at approximately 29.6% containing 86 million cubic metres of water as compared to last year where the figures were 11.3% containing 32 million cubic metres of water.
Whilst there is still a need to preserve our reserves of water and use wisely, let us hope that the water shortages we experienced last year will not happen again this summer.
